Unit Standards Level 2 – 4

Te Wānanga Whare Tapere o Takitimu is pleased to offer the Māori Performing Arts Gateway Cadetship 2021.  This programme will assist students gain skills, experience, and kick-start a career in the exciting Creative Industries. 

They’ll also gain unit standards and make professional contacts that can help open doors to a wide range of stimulating jobs and careers in the entertainment business.

What is Gateway?

Te Wānanga Whare Tapere o Takitimu is pleased to offer the Māori Performing Arts Gateway Cadetship 2021.  This programme will assist students gain skills, experience, and kick-start a career in the exciting Creative Industries. 

They’ll also gain unit standards and make professional contacts that can help open doors to a wide range of stimulating jobs and careers in the entertainment business.

Who can do Gateway?

Students from years 11 to 13 can apply to take part in the Gateway programme through their school coordinator.  

How the programme works?

Each Friday students will be onsite training alongside and with industry qualified kaiako.  Students will experience the daily life of a Kahurangi Māori Dance Theatre performer and follow their demanding schedule. 

Alternatively for schools outside of the Hawkes Bay, there are school holiday and Wānanga options. Please contact me to discuss further. 

Assessment and Marking

  • Marking and assessment are done by our industry trained and experienced kaiako.
  • Marked assessments will be given to the school via online or hardcopy within two weeks of their last assessment.
  • Results are reported to the school NOT NZQA. It is the school’s responsibility to include the student results in their NZQA report.
  • All communication regarding assessments will be via the school’s Gateway Coordinator.

Enrolment

Enrolments for the Gateway Cadetship will be made by the schools Gateway Coordinator. On receipt of the first enrolment a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be sent to the schools Gateway Coordinator within 10 working days. This will cover the academic year.
